Catherine—or “Cat” as she is more commonly known—brings a unique, diverse, and whimsical energy to the office. Prior to transitioning into a career as a paralegal, Cat worked as a Southwest Airlines flight attendant, a mortician’s assistant, and even as a popular radio personality on KMOD and KRMG! She earned her Bachelor of Science in Business from Northeastern State University. Cat then graduated from the University of Tulsa Post Baccalaureate Paralegal Program and earned her Advanced Certified Paralegal certification with the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). Cat is currently working towards a Master of Legal Studies in Indigenous People’s Law at the University of Oklahoma. She brings a wealth of life experiences as well as a compassionate tone to her legal work.
At Diana Cupps Law, Cat is in a litigation support role and is part of a team of paralegals. She works closely with the team to ensure that all tasks for all cases are completed. Her specialty is evidence and document collection, labeling, and organization, preparation of case timelines, selection of experts for attorney review, and preparing comprehensive casefile update memoranda. She also completes overflow tasks to help the team complete their work with timely efficiency and accuracy.
While Cat can still point out all the safety exits and flotation devices, still loves to do hair and makeup, and can recite the local weather like a pro, she has found her calling in helping our clients who are going through difficult transitions in their family law cases.
When Cat is not working, she can be found spending time with her husband, Brett Thompson, her fur baby, Jimbo, listening to rock and roll, and looking for penguins. Cat’s penguin collection includes a six-foot-tall penguin statue she got from the Tulsa Zoo 75th Anniversary fundraiser in 2002. If you come to the office to see Cat, chances are high you will get to see her penguin collection and hear her “radio voice” demonstration if you bring something with a penguin on it—or Lenny Kravitz tickets—your choice!
